Galway Baroque Singers Concert raises €1,500 for COPE Galway

Wednesday, 10th May, 2017 1:00am

Galway Baroque Singers performed a concert of choral music in aid of COPE Galway on Sunday 8 April. This free concert took place in St. Mary’s Church, Claddagh and was very well attended. The audience was asked to make a donation to the COPE volunteers attending on the night and both choir and COPE were delighted with the very generous audience response, as a total of €1,542.43 was collected for the Galway charity.

A cheque for the donation was formally presented by Bill Barry, chairman of the Galway Baroque Singers, to COPE Galway officers Marie-Anne Michel and Irina Suskevic, at the COPE Galway offices.

The next scheduled concert for Galway Baroque Singers will be a third Choral Fusion performance with Dun Laoghaire Choral Society in June. The combined choirs will sing works composed for double-choir by Vivaldi, and will be accompanied by the Fishamble Sinfonia Orchestra and conducted by David Brophy.

Two performances are scheduled, the first in St. Anne’s Church, Dawson Street, Dublin on Saturday 10 June, followed by the Galway concert in the Cathedral on Saturday 17 June.
