Monroe’s have been shortlisted for an IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Award 2016. The annual award celebrates those with a dedication and passion for live music.

The venue is no stranger to awards as they hold the IMRO Award for Best Live Music Venue for 2012 and 2013 and were also the IMRO Connacht Live Venue of the Year last year.

Monroe’s has been providing their loyal following from Galway and beyond with top class live music since the Tavern opened its doors over 50 years ago. No other venue in the West of Ireland caters for such a wide audience and hosts live music from every genre including rock, folk, trad, bluegrass, reggae and country. Monroes regularly showcases the finest in international, national and local acts including sell out gigs to Kodaline, The Darkness and Lordi among others.

Speaking about the nomination, Gary Monroe said, “We are delighted to be nominated for the award again this year. A lot of hard work goes in behind the scenes to organise the events, we’ve a great team here so it’s good to be recognised for all the hard work.”

Public votes for IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year can be cast on before Saturday 18 February.
