Galway Arts Centre’s visual art collective Red Bird Youth Collective will begin 2017 with a six week project with dancer and teacher Genevieve Ryan. The project looks at how visual art and dance can intersect and create something new.
The Youth Collective is led by young people aged 15-23. The first of two major projects Red Bird will focus on this year is a film project with Louise Manifold. The group will explore and rework found material, such as old film, old objects, mix tapes, and computer data.
The second project, in collaboration with Adrian Duncan, will create a bus tour of Galway County that focuses on Bungalow Bliss style houses; their designs, aspect and precedents on the land. An audio guide and info map will accompany the tour, along with a series of print workshops that re-evaluate the aesthetic and construction of these houses.
Anyone between the ages of 16 to 23 with an interest in the arts is invited to become a part of this exciting youth collective. There is no fee to become a member. If you or someone you know is interested, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 091-565886.
