Show Me The Funny returns

Wednesday, 11th January, 2017 1:00am

’Show Me The Funny’, Ireland’s biggest and best competition for up and coming comedians, returns to the King’s Head in Galway this month.

Past winners Niamh Marron (2013) and finalists Al Porter (2015) and Kevin McGahern (2012) have used the competition as a springboard in their careers and are now established on the circuit.

The first of 5 heats takes place on Monday 16 January, with the first batch of eight comedy hopefuls vying for a place in the Grand Final on Monday 20 February.

The eventual winner will garner a much coveted slot at the Electric Picnic Comedy tent, with the runners up also getting slots at various festivals in 2017.

Each heat will be judged by a panel of industry experts and there will also be an audience vote.

Hosted by MC Gerry Mallon, each heat will feature a performance from a special guest act from the international circuit.

Special guest at next Monday’s heat on 16 January is the wonderful Fred Cooke.

Admission to the Bulmers sponsored event is €5. Everybody who goes along to the heats and final will gain free entry into a draw for a VIP weekend ticket for next year’s Electric Picnic. Doors 8pm, show at 8.30pm.
