Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh continues to bring top-quality comedy to Galway with this week’s headliner, Patrick McDonnell, on Friday 20 November.
Louth native McDonnell is probably best known for his role on Father Ted as Eoin McLove where his character was an instant classic with such lines as, ‘Go away! I don’t want to catch the menopause!’
McDonnell played the petulant man-child to perfection and provided the ideal nemesis for Ardal O’Hanlon’s Dougal Maguire. He has gone from strength to strength with roles on Moone Boy, Stew, Naked Camera and the Savage Eye.
An accomplished comedian, Patrick has been touring comedy clubs at home and abroad for years earning international acclaim. Patrick’s vacant stare and guileless manner will have you laughing before he opens his mouth. He was part of a sold-out show for Galway’s recent Vodafone Comedy Carnival so if you missed that stellar show, now’s the time to catch him live.
Support on the night comes from Andrea Farrell. A bright spark in Irish comedy, Andrea came to national attention as a finalist in the RTE New Comedy Awards, with her laconic style and irreverent stage presence she has performed at the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cats Laughs and Electric Picnic and is a regular at the International Comedy Club. When she isn’t opening for the likes of Stewart Francis and Marc Maron, she is touring the country with The Lads of Comedy.
Regular MC is musical comedian Steve Bennett. Doors at 8.30pm, show from 9pm. Tickets €8 from OMG Shop Street, Róisín Dubh and www.roisindubh.net.
