Dear Editor,
I have on previous occasions highlighted the dangers of the daily constant traffic influx that attends a local Gaelscoil on the Cappagh Road here in Galway. Alas the whole matter has now become even more dangerous.

'Cllr Ó Brolcháin needs to straighten thinking on rail issues'

Dear Editor,
Last week's Galway Independent (Wednesday 9 January) set out the views of Cllr Niall Ó Brolcháin on the type and number of passenger rail services that should be provided, Galway to Dublin. In particular, he proposes 'direct morning and evening mainline services between the two cities', presumably non stop, and saying these services should take no more than one hour and 45 minutes.

With reference to Carl Sweeney's letter (Wednesday 9 January), as a non-medical person I am not qualified to enter into a debate on the merits of the various reports that have been published in recent years dealing with the link between abortion and breast cancer.

While many people will remember the role of the late Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto as a champion in the struggle for democracy in Pakistan, she should also be remembered as an international advocate for women and children, be they born or unborn.

Dear Editor,
Great to see the spirited quasi-PD Noel Grealish unselfishly doing some PR for Fianna Fáil, the party he is eager to join. Like Dev Mór, he seems to be able to see into the hearts of the Irish people whom, he says, are sick of tribunals.
