Renmore road system a 'shambles'
Wednesday, 01 October 2008

Dear Editor,
As a long term resident of Renmore, I have been aware for many years of the 'Rat Race' that is Renmore Park and welcomed the change to turn it into one way traffic from the Dublin Road entrance to the Renmore Road.

Illegal parking putting lives at risk
Wednesday, 01 October 2008

To the editor,
I wish to draw to your intention what I believe to be an ongoing and extremely dangerous practise, not to mention illegal.

Moved by column
Wednesday, 01 October 2008

Dear Editor,
I've been meaning to put pen to paper for quite a while. I recently had some difficulties in my life and, by chance, happened upon Ronan Scully's article in your paper.

Questioning Arts Festival funding
Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Dear Editor,
I do not support Cllr Michael Crowe's political views and am unlikely to in the near future, but I do support his questioning of City Council funding for the Arts Festival, and not merely because The Saw Doctors were refused use of the festival marquee, which sounds like a classic case of schoolboy peevishness.

No seat belt, no chance
Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Dear Editor,
According to the Road Safety Authority (RSA), over 400 people die on our roads each year. Much of this injury and many of these deaths would not occur if drivers and passengers were adequately restrained by safety belts. Without a seat belt, three out of four people will be killed or seriously injured in a 50 KPH (31.1 MPH) head-on crash.

Government can no longer turn blind eye to Shannon
Wednesday, 24 September 2008

A chara,
The case of torture victim Binyam Mohamed – a British resident and Guantanamo internee - puts a human face on the Irish government's assistance to US torturers, who unhindered travel regularly through Shannon airport.

Shocked at call to war
Wednesday, 17 September 2008

Dear Editor,
I was shocked to find a call for war against Iran in the 6 August (Hiroshima Day) letters column. That letter showed the dangers of the media parroting misinformation and of misleading information put out by parties with an agenda to pursue.

Libertas needs proposals
Wednesday, 17 September 2008

Dear Editor,
Declan Ganley, the leader of Libertas, was in Brussels this week addressing a group of Eurosceptic MEPS.

Against the by pass
Wednesday, 10 September 2008
Dear Editor,
As someone who spoke at the An Bord Pleanála hearing earlier this year, I would like to respond to your editorial and the letter from Alan Nixon on the Galway City Outer Bypass. While I respect both views, I’d like the opportunity to provide a different viewpoint.

Wednesday, 10 September 2008
Dear Editor,

I am from Cork, but live in Athenry during the week, since I am working on a construction job in the area.
