Rusheen Bay Windsurfing has been chosen from over 12,000 entries to become an ESB eCar ambassador.
The water-sports school beat off serious competition in the ESB’s ‘The Great Electric Drive’ competition.
School owner Danny Mulryan said he is delighted to have the chance to experience the use of a fully electric vehicle.
“Yes, we have our reservations but already the figures are starting to make real sense. The zero emissions theme fits well into our business model. It’s in our best interests to ensure we have a minimum impact on the surrounding environment,” he said.
The school will be given a Smith-Edison electric van for six months. The award also includes the installation of a charge point for the vehicle. As part of the deal, the school will report to the nation on the experience of using the 100 per cent electric van over a six-month period.
