Portsmouth (England) – 18 August - The acclaimed voice of the Volvo Ocean Race, Guy Swindells, and his radio team have been signed up for the 2008-09 edition of the round-the-world ocean marathon which starts in Alicante in October.

Portsmouth (England) – 13 August - The Volvo Ocean Race has announced the appointment of a new Communications Director, Marcus Hutchinson, who will be replacing Reg Gratton from the beginning of September.
Portsmouth (England) 15 July, 2008 – The Extreme 40 Series will be part of the on-the-water entertainment package at selected stopovers during the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09.
The Extreme 40s will feature in Alicante, Singapore, Qingdao, Boston and Stockholm with fleets of up to 10 boats.
Beijing (China) – 27 June, 2008 – The Green Team has been re-named the Green Dragon Team, after securing title sponsorship from a syndicate of Chinese companies, it has been officially announced.
The names of the companies in the Chinese syndicate will be announced at a later date.
Portsmouth (England) – 16 June, 2008 – Marstrand, the famous sailing and recreational island close to Goteborg on Sweden’s west coast, will be the Pit Stop for the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race en route to Stockholm, race organisers have announced.

Three Irish sailors, rated as some of best ocean sailors in the world, have been announced as members of the Green Team by Skipper Ian Walker. The sailors are Damian Foxhall (39) from County Kerry, Justin Slattery (34) from County Wexford and Ian Moore (37) from County Antrim.
Sweden, 29 May, 2008 –The puzzle is almost complete for Ericsson Racing Team’s Nordic crew, with the formal appointment by skipper Anders Lewander of Richard Mason as part of the crew. Mason, who is based in Stockholm, will join the crew as Watch Captain for his third Volvo Ocean Race.
