Galway based Bulgarian development company, West Properties International, was the main sponsor of the recent Galway Football Board corporate dinner in the Clayton Hotel, Galway. The dinner was held to help raise money for the Football Board's new facilities in Loughgeorge. Speaking at the dinner, Peter Quinn of the Quinn Group praised the entrepreneurs of Galway for their contributions to recent Irish economic growth and more specifically, the success of Galway in recent years. Speaking on behalf of West Properties International, Benen Tierney, National Sales Manager, outlined the success that Galway entrepreneur, Brian Conneely has enjoyed with West Properties International. From one employee in 2004, West has now grown into a true multinational with over 50 employees in Ireland and Bulgaria. With over €100m in assets and over 1.6 million square foot under construction, this company has achieved a remarkable amount in its four years of trading. Bulgaria, not unlike Ireland fifteen years ago, is under going major change. They have recently entered the European Union and are currently a recipient of major structural funding. The country is a major destination for multinational investment also. AIB has recently invested over €216 million in taking over a Bulgarian Investment Bank and Aer Lingus announced last Thursday that it will be flying direct to Bourgas, Bugaira from 11 June this year. Bulgaria was the world's fastest growing property market in 2007, with growth in excess of 30 per cent. With the entry of Aer Lingus and AIB, two of Ireland's largest and longest established companies, to the Bulgarian market, Irish investors can look upon Bulgaria as an investment destination with a renewed sense of confidence. The entry of two such companies gives credence to West Properties International's claims about the potential that Bulgaria holds for the Irish investor. |
