Frank Conroy Auctioneers has reported lively bidding at last Friday's auction of lands between Glencorrib and Shrule, Co. Mayo, which took place at the Anglers Rest Hotel in Headford. There were two lots on offer on the day, the first lot was 15 acres of very good agricultural land which was opened by a telephone bidder at €180,000, the bidding continued to €215,000 when the telephone bidder dropped out. The property was put on the market at €220,000 and bidding continued in the room with three active bidders. It was eventually sold to a local farmer at €335,000. The second lot consisted of about 20 acres of land, which the auctioneer said was not quiet as good as the first lot. The bidding opened at €100,000 and the lot was eventually sold for €295,000 to the same local farmer who bought the first lot. Prior to the commencement of the auction, the auctioneer mentioned 11 acres of land, which he has for sale at Killernan near Kilmaine. He now reports that some of the under bidders at the auction has expressed in this land, which is for sale by private treaty. |
