Page 1 of 2 Margarita Island is located 40km off the north shore of Venezuela, one
of the most southern Caribbean islands untouched by hurricanes.
Margarita Island has a tremendous climate, excellent scuba diving and gorgeous beaches. These beautifully beaches of Isla Margarita also offer perfect conditions for windsurfing and other water sports. The island is permeated by a spirit of laid-back lifestyle, dramatic architecture with high mountains framed by white beaches, which fade away into turquoise-green water. Today Margarita emerges as a great tourist and commercial centre in the competitive Caribbean area, thanks to its natural potential, the growth of services and the hotel's infrastructure. In its modern history, Margarita has been created as a duty-free state in 1970 and a free port in 1975. Visitors and locals have the opportunity to buy imported goods with very attractive prices. As Margarita is a tax-free island, property investors will be happy to hear there are no purchase taxes or sales taxes involved when buying and selling property there.
