Pollywerrin, Gorumna Island, Connemara, Co. Galway

Pollywerrin is a townland on Gorumna Island, west of Lettermore in the Connemara Gaeltacht. It is linked to the mainland by road.

An old stone cottage in Pollywerrin has now come on the market, which was the home of Padraic Bradley, a local man who was well known for poitín, dancing and prodigious feats of strength.

Padraic Bradley’s cottage stands on over four acres of elevated ground and commands good views over Lough Awilla and the surrounding countryside.

The property goes for auction on 14 September at the Imperial hotel, Galway, and agents Frank Conroy Auctioneers, are guiding the property at €175,000.

Under the hammer on the same day is an unusual property at Knock, also on Gorumna.

Here, there are two old stone cottages, a private coral beach and 23 acres of land. The property has extensive sea frontage onto Coonawilleen Bay. The large acreage ensures total privacy for the enjoyment of the coral beach, which is a feature that very few properties in the area have to offer.

Both of the old dwellings require complete renovation, but the larger of the two has a recently installed corrugated roof.

The area is well known for Connemara ponies and this property would provide grazing for several. As well as the beach there is extensive sea frontage.

The agents are guiding €500,000 on this property.

For full details on this property contact Frank Conroy Auctioneers on 091-552503 or on 087-2231935.
