The Manchester United fan's latest escapade involved a trip across the water to bring the cupla focal to the people of England and explore the similarities between the two nations. While there has been animosity between the two countries in the past, Hector discovered that both have come a long way in recent times and that there are many similarities between the two.

"No one has ever done a travel series on England, at least not the way we did it. We tried to go to places that people would recognise, cos there are thousands of people in Ireland with relations there. It is a great country and holds a lot of memories for people. The days of 'no blacks, no dogs, no Irish' are definitely over. We were once laying cement for their houses, now we are buying them back off them. I think if we can stand up in Croke Park and hear 'God Save the Queen', we have come a long way."

His trip to England was certainly eventful and viewers will see Hector wearing his kilt proudly in the Highlands of Scotland, meeting the creators of Dandy and Beano, walking the grounds of Carnoustie where Pádraig Harrington won the British Open, checking out the crop circles around Stonehenge and joining up with the Mods in Carnaby Street.

As one of the most recognisable faces in Ireland, Hector has achieved great success over the years, while still continuing his crusade to 'bring the Irish language back to the people'. However, he is still shocked at the huge response the shows have received from the public, both here in Ireland and all over the world.

"It's amazing to think that we have travelled all over the world with this show and walked the streets speaking Irish. I still travel with the same people that I started off with in 2000. We are like blood brothers at this stage. We just try to have the craic and have a laugh; there is enough shite going on in the world. We're just trying to provide some entertainment while still letting people find out about whatever country we are in."

'Hector san UK' continues every Thursday at 9.30pm on TG4.
