Petworld Terryland is hosting the Furry 5K, an annual dog walk for animal welfare charities.
Thanks to the sponsorship from Hill’s Science Plan Pet Foods and the free media coverage provided by iRadio, Petworld aims to raise €10,000. The walk will take place in five locations around the country and benefit seven charities, with three based here in Galway – East Galway Animal Rescue, Madra and the GSPCA.
The walk will leave from the store on Sunday 18 August at 10am sharp and promises to be a fun morning full of laughter and atmosphere as animal lovers (and their dogs!) come together for a great cause. Afterwards, there will be light refreshments, for both the two- and four-legged walkers, back at Petworld.
The walkers will get a chance to meet representatives from the charities to see how the money they have earned will be spent. There will also be free goody bags provided by Hill’s Science Plan Pet Foods, which will include money off vouchers for Hill’s Science Plan dog food.
Owning a dog is good for both mind and body. A dog can help lower blood pressure and improve fitness levels. Studies have shown that children with dogs are less likely to have allergies. Owning a dog can also help with the treatment of depression and improve your social life, as having a dog is a natural conversation starter. People with dogs are much more likely to stop and talk to each other, as they already have a love of animals as a common bond!
