I refer to the letter of Tommy Roddy in last week’s newspaper (‘We need to discuss the issue of abortion‘).
I would just like to make the point that the very fact of Mr Roddy likening the introduction in this country of some form of a woman’s right to choose to some sort of ‘fad’ that the country will be following indicates that he has given no real consideration to the many women who face difficult and harrowing decisions on a daily basis under various circumstances.
Furthermore it gives no thought to the often unnecessary and traumatic journeys that they are forced to make abroad.
Maybe it’s not his pro life belief that meant his friends who previously campaigned for him didn’t turn up to support his launch, but rather his very flippant attitude on the topic as a whole.
