Eurovision ‘unbelievable experience’ says Brendan

Wednesday, 17th May, 2017 1:01am

Ireland’s Eurovision singer Brendan Murray from Tuam has described singing in the contest as “an unbelievable experience.”

Tuam native Brendan performed in Thursday’s semi-final in Kyiv in Ukraine but failed to make Saturday’s final. Afterwards he posted online, “I can’t describe how much I’ve enjoyed this whole experience! I never thought at the age of 20, I’d be representing my county on one of the biggest platforms in the world!”

He added, “Life is full of knocks but they only make you stronger! I’ll be back!”

The Tuam native performed the song ‘Dying to Try’, which was written be Swedish songwriter Jörgen Elofsson and British songwriter James Newman. The song is currently number one in Armenia.

Brendan was a member of Louis Walsh’s Irish boyband HomeTown, and was chosen by the Mayo man to perform this year’s entry.

Ireland have won the Eurovision Song Contest the most times, with seven wins, but have failed to qualify for the final since 2013, when Ryan Dolan performed the song ‘Only Love Survives’.

Portugal were the eventual winners of the contest on Saturday night, with their song performed Salvador Sobral.
