Kylemore Trust is to receive €200,000 to support the establishment of an education centre at Kylemore Abbey in Connemara.
The funding has been sanctioned by Minister Phil Hogan and has been welcomed by Galway Deputy Sean Kyne, who said it demonstrates the important work of Forum Connemara in administering funding for activities and initiatives under the Rural Development Programme.
“The education centre will be located in the West Wing of Kylemore Abbey and will be tasked with encouraging tourism and tourism-related activities in the Connemara region. The education centre will focus on attracting national and overseas visitors and organisations but will also be a top-class facility to meet the training needs of local groups and organisations,” he said.
“A strong factor in Minister’s Hogan’s decision to grant the funding is the very positive effect the centre will have on developing and supporting micro-enterprises, rural services and local businesses which are all essential for sustainable rural development.”
