Following continued double digit growth and expansion on the western seaboard through the opening of its new office in Galway City, professional services firm EY is continuing its ambitious growth with the appointment of experienced tax professionals, Emer Joyce and Muireann McGarry.
The Eyre Square office, which opened six months ago, now has a team of 18 tax and assurance (audit) professionals. Emer joins as Tax Director and will lead the firm’s Private Client Services offering in the West of Ireland while Muireann joins the corporate tax team as Senior Manager.
A Galway native, Emer Joyce brings with her over 16 years’ experience, having previously led her own private client services tax practice – Emer Joyce & Co – for seven years and prior to that working for KPMG in Dublin. Emer, alongside her team, will advise Irish business owners, high net worth individuals and their families on all areas of personal taxation including estate planning, succession planning, capital gains taxation, and business structures both in Ireland and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from NUI Galway and is a FCA Chartered Accountant and AITI Registered Tax Consultant.
Meanwhile, Muireann McGarry also recently joined EY Galway as Senior Tax Manager, bringing with her over 15 years’ experience in advising multinational companies on all aspects of tax, with particular expertise in international tax planning and cross border transactions. Prior to joining EY, Muireann held a number senior tax roles in industry. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from NUI Galway and is a FCA Chartered Accountant and AITI Registered Tax Consultant.
EY’s new Galway office, headed up by Galway native Paraic Waters, Director, Business Tax Advisory, and Jamie Williams, Director, Assurance, has continued to grow its presence on the West of Ireland since its opening in June of this year. Looking into 2017, the Galway office will continue to expand its pool of talent which provides tax and assurance (audit) services to EY’s already significant client base on the western seaboard, advising multinational and indigenous Irish companies as well as entrepreneurs and family run businesses. The firm will also welcome six graduates from universities in the region who will start working on the team in September 2017.
