Mattie Murphy has been installed as the Galway minor hurling manager once again for the 2013 season.
Murphy has guided the young Tribesmen to six All-Ireland titles in his time as the U-18 manager and was retained for a 12th consecutive season ahead of the only other candidate Keith Carr from Ballinderreen GAA club.
Last season proved a disappointment for the Galway minors, who lost out to eventual champions Tipperary at the semi-final stage at Croke Park.
It had been reported in the aftermath of that defeat that Murphy was considering stepping down from the post, but the man who lead Gort to last year’s senior county title was handed another year in charge at Monday night’s special meeting of the Galway hurling board.
Murphy last led Galway to the All-Ireland title in 2011, but will be expected to have the young Tribesmen in contention for honours again in 2013.
