The SFX Parking Post is a new aid to help protect parking spaces that are reserved by regulation for disabled drivers, parent and child or other special need groups, including the seven-day business user. SFX Parking Post is a system of sensors and audio transmitters that recognises when a vehicle has entered the controlled parking bay and broadcasts a message pointing out the restrictions of use. SFX Parking Post is in use in some UK supermarkets and the parking management have already seen a reduction in miss-use of the reserved bays. A focus group of parking users has endorsed the system as a useful tool in protecting the special bays for use by those for whom they are reserved. Regulations require all parking facilities to provide disabled parking bays, which need to be protected. Print notices often fail to enforce the restrictions. The SFX audio broadcasts achieve greater compliance with a spontaneous message as other motorists can hear the message and the guilt factor comes into play. |
