Suzuki is now offering an economical 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine in the SX model. Prices start from €21,995 before delivery charges.

The new five-door is available with a Peugeot 1.6-litre DDiS engine and has a 90bhp output and 215 Nm of torque to ensure lively, flexible performance characteristics matched by strong fuel economy. The car is matched to a five-speed manual gearbox and driving through the front wheels, the combined cycle figure is a frugal 5.8l/100kms and CO2 emissions are 139g/km, yet the latest SX4 clocks up 0-100km/hr-acceleration time of 12.2 seconds and has a potential top speed of175kmh.

Equipment levels are similar to the 1.5-litre petrol engine version of the SX4. The extras include manual air conditioning, heated door mirrors, 16-inch alloys, roof rails, front fogs and wheel arch extensions. The retail price is €21,995 (excl. delivery and related charges).

The roomy interior includes 60:40 split rear seats, which tumble to create an almost flat floor and a boot capacity of 625 litres. The Suzuki SX safety features include front, side and curtain airbags, plus front seat pre-tensioners.

All Suzuki models are covered by a Suzuki, three-year/100,000km new vehicle warranty, by Suzuki Assistance, providing 24-hour Irish and European roadside assistance, recovery and associated service for 36 months and by a 12-year perforation warranty.
