Irishspeedtraps.com is now available on Garmin GPS devices. Garmin and Irishspeedtraps.com provide locations for safety cameras throughout the country. Irish drivers can, for the first time, download a database of fixed and mobile speed trap locations to their Garmin sat nav device.

The partnership between Garmin and Irishspeedtraps.com means that motorists and owners of a Garmin sat nav device can log on to the website www.irishspeedtraps.com and download the database of safety camera locations across Ireland, of which there are currently 350.The database is then updated on a weekly basis.

Philip Nathan, spokesperson for JDM Products, official distributor for Garmin in Ireland welcomed today's launch and believes it will encourage motorists to reduce their speed. "This exclusive partnership with Garmin and Irishspeedtraps.com will, we hope, highlight the danger speed zones for motorists and force them to slow down."

Ciaran Kennedy of Irishpeedtraps.com said: "Irishspeedtraps.com welcome this partnership with Garmin which will allow us to make our database of over 350 static and mobile safety camera locations available to the public. We believe that public knowledge of these safety camera locations will play a vital role in improving road safety and encourage drivers to slow down."

Irishspeedtraps.com compiles the database from locations submitted by website users. Only locations that have been submitted twice or more and manually verified by Irishspeedtraps.com are included and available for download by motorists. When approaching a safety camera the Garmin Sat Nav will display the designated speed limit and an audio and on-screen prompt will remind the driver to reduce their speed.

The full database is compatible with the Garmin Nuvi 250, 250w, 310, 610, 710 & Zumo 550 devices and a one year subscription costs €35 which includes unlimited free download updates during that time. You can log onto www.irishspeedtraps.com for more information.
