The Peugeot 308 is produced in France at a rate of 1,400 vehicles per day and the three-door hatchback version is now available in Ireland.

Peugeot has already exceeded its first target of producing 100,000 new 308 hatchbacks, following its commercial launch across Europe during the last three months of 2007.

The Peugeot 308 is produced at the Mulhouse and Sochaux sites in France at a rate of 1,400 vehicles per day and it is soon to be available in the markets outside of Europe. From spring 2008 onwards, the hatchback variant of the 308 will be joined by other body styles to include an SW and Coupe Cabriolet version.

The production achievement coincides with the market introduction in Ireland of the three-door hatchback version, the 1.4 petrol version and the new 1.6 litre HDi diesel engine, emitting just 120 g of CO2/km. This new low-emission diesel engine will qualify for the A-Category VRT and Road Tax bracket in Ireland when price reductions kick-in for efficient passenger cars this July.

The new 308 is available in six trims to include S, SE, ST, SX, SV and GT, with a choice of four petrol and three diesel engines. Standard safety specification across the range includes driver/passenger/side/curtain airbags, deactivate switch for passenger airbag, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, automatic illumination of hazard lights and three Isofix location points. The SX, SV and GT levels gain a driver's knee airbag and the GT version gains ESP and tyre pressure sensors as standard.

Comfort and security equipment includes immobiliser, automatic locking over 10kph, speed related power steering, front electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, steering wheel stereo/in-dash CD audio control, height adjustable driver and passenger seat and split folding rear seats.
