Peugeot will be dropping prices next week on 58 models of its 84 model range, following the introduction of the new VRT rates. Peugeot claims that thanks to the efficiency of Peugeot's low CO2-emission engines, over two-thirds or 69 per cent of the Peugeot range will enjoy price reductions from 1 July. The most significant savings will be in the Peugeot HDi diesel range. ![]() The Peugeot 308 HDi range will enjoy a minimum price reduction of €3,131. Prices across the Peugeot 207 HDi diesel range will be reduced by a minimum of €1,846, across the 308 HDi range by a minimum of €3,131 and across the 407 HDi range by a minimum of €3,283. To illustrate, a new Peugeot 308 S 1.6 HDi 90bhp 5dr model will see a price fall of €3,131 to €20,410. With additional annual road tax savings of €328 per year, the total reduction or saving is €3,409. A 407 Solaire 1.6 HDi 110bhp will enjoy a price fall of €3,552 to €28,975, plus a road tax reduction of €278 to bring total savings to €3,830. Prices do not include dealer delivery related charges. It is widely recognised that diesel engines offer performance and power, matched to lower emissions and lower fuel consumption than petrol equivalents and when it comes to producing diesel engines, Peugeot has demonstrated strong leadership and innovation over many decades. Peugeot pioneered diesel cars in France in 1959, produced Europe's first turbo diesel in 1979 and unveiled the world's first diesel particle filter in 2000, a revolutionary system designed to eliminate harmful car emissions. The PSA Peugeot Tremery factory in France is the biggest diesel engine manufacturing plant in the world and, for two years running, the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group has been European sales leader of low-emission cars. |
