Car buyers are attracted by the rumors of good used car values in the UK market, but they need to careful if they are attempting a personal import, especially if it's their first foray into the market.

You read the magazines and the prices look attractive, but once you leave the UK on the ferry and cross the Irish Sea, then you're on you own. This compares with quality used cars imported by established car importers, who source their cars from leading UK used car suppliers, with a guarantee and a track record.

In a year such as this year, when the UK was plagued with flooding problems, and thousands of cars were marooned, you need to especially careful about potential ‘bargains’ that may appear to come your way. We know that many cars that were partly submerged under water will come on the market.

That's why you need the support of the local dealer who can assure that the imported car has the necessary service and ownership history to give you peace of mind. So be careful if you are hunting down a personal import and give extra consideration to the local dealer with established contacts in the UK market.
