Renault has launched the new Laguna to the Irish market with an entry price of ?26,590 it's competitive and comes with a thrifty 1.5 litre turbo-diesel engine entry model.

Renault has improved on its impressive safety image with the launch of new features in the new Laguna for 2008. With ESP with ASR Traction Control as standard across the Laguna range and latest generation ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution new Laguna is well placed to take its position as one of the safest cars in its class

From its launch in Ireland new Laguna will be available with a choice of two diesel engines with a 1.6L 16V VVT petrol engine to follow early in 2008. All of the engines will be mated with six speed transmissions (manual and automatic). Renault claims that each of the engines features as one of the best in its category in terms of driving comfort and fuel consumption and will offer something for all drivers on Irish roads.

The first of the engines is the 1.5dCi 110bhp. The engine combines performance with low fuel consumption 4.6l/100km (61.4 mpg). The 1.5L dCi is a smooth running and with a low CO2 emission figure of just 130g/km this engine is sure to be popular.

The second engine that will be available is the 2.0L dCi delivering 150bhp. Available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission the 2.0L dCi is a punchy and responsive engine. This engine is equipped with a low inertia, variable geometry turbo and ultrafast glow plugs and truly comes into its own under the bonnet of new Laguna.

Curtain airbags, double pretensioners and the Renault Anti Intruder Device also all come as standard and will help position the Laguna to the fore in terms of safety in its segment. A long list of practical features, including air conditioning, automatic parking brake and the second generation Renault Key Card, further contribute to taking the stress out of day-to-day driving.

The entry price for the new Laguna is €26,590 before delivery charges. A three year 150,000 kilometres warranty package is the main statement of Renault's confidence of quality in new Laguna. One of the chief pledges of the Renault Commitment 2009 plan concerned new Laguna directly, namely for the new model to rank among the top three in its segment of product and service quality.
