Coupes and convertibles with diesel power are become more popular. This has prompted Volvo to extend the engine options in its stylish C70 coupe convertible range with the addition of the 136bhp 2-litre turbo-diesel.

The 2.0D engine has already established itself as a favourite amongst Volvo customers and will now offer C70 drivers a combination of enhanced driving pleasure and impressive fuel economy. The 2-litre turbo diesel is the first 4-cylinder engine in the convertible and features second-generation common rail technology to provide cleaner emissions, improved fuel economy and a quieter drive.

The 2-litre diesel will fit alongside the current five-cylinder engines: D5 and the two petrol variants – 2.4i and the range topping T5. The Volvo C70 is available in four trim levels – S, Sport, SE and SE Lux. Standard specification includes 16" Castula alloy wheels, ECC, cruise control and High Performance sound audio system.

Irish summer weather is notoriously unpredictable (do we need to be reminded), but Volvo’s C70 convertible ensures occupants don’t miss a minute of the sunshine. With a three-piece metal roof that retracts in 30 seconds enabling passengers to make the most of the sunny spells, Volvo’s four-seat C70 is the perfect car to whirl away the summer days
