At the announcement of the contenders for the prestigious 2008 award, Tony Toner, Vice-Chairman of the IMWA said: “For my colleagues and me, formulating the full list of cars that are eligible is the easy part. Now, on behalf of Irish motorists, we must select a most worthy winner from many good cars. This is a responsibility that we take very seriously”.

“The Irish car market is very vibrant at the moment and the list of contenders reflects that vibrancy”, commented Paddy Murphy of Semperit Ireland.  “The listing contains a lot of exciting new models that would be worthy winners of the 2008 award. With the broad range of vehicle-types available – ranging from superminis, small family cars and saloons to all-terrain vehicles and luxury models.”

Shortlisted vehicles will be announced in the coming weeks. The Semperit Irish Car of the Year and Van of the Year awards are adjudicated by the Irish Motoring Writers Association.
