Over the past nine years Land Rover has made significant improvements in vehicle technology. The company claims that emissions output of their vehicles has fallen by an average of 13 per cent compared with the motor industry average of 9.7 per cent in that period.

Against the background where new Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) rates mean significant price increases for Land Rover vehicles from July 1 next, Land Rover Ireland has produced a booklet, titled 'There is more to our world'. The booklet is designed to communicate how Land Rover's sense of environmental responsibility extends from manufacturing and design to the promotion of responsible off-road driving.

David Harpur, managing director of Land Rover Ireland said, "Land Rover is the only specialist manufacturer of permanent four wheel drive vehicles in the world and takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously.

"Land Rover operates the largest consumer CO2 offset programme in the world. The company offsets 100 per cent of its manufacturing assembly CO2 emissions and operates a Fragile Earth programme with partners such as Born Free and Earthwatch.

"The company is a net contributor to protecting the environment and its vehicles are the vehicles of choice for emergency services, mountain rescue teams, conservation groups and aid organisations across the globe.

"Land Rover owners have made an informed choice no matter what their needs. They know that Land Rovers are designed for demanding roads or terrain, for any weather conditions for family or recreational needs, or for any challenge. That is why Land Rover owners can drive with pride", said David Harpur.
