Kia has announced details of the Pro-cee'd, set to arrive in Irish showrooms in the next week. The Pro-cee'd is a three-door sporty hatch and the third addition to the cee'd model line up. The cee'd five door was first to arrive in December 2006 followed by the Station Wagon earlier this month. ![]() The new Kia Pro-cee'd is the three-door version of the cee'd and comes on the market with an entry price of ?19,195 before delivery charges. All three cee'd models were designed in Kia's European design centre and built at the company's first European factory in Slovakia and boast an industry leading, seven year/150,000 kilometre warranty. Longer, lower and lighter, the new Pro-cee'd has an extended nose, a shallower front grille, new-style headlamps, a wider bumper with a prominent lip spoiler, a deeper central air intake and larger fog lights. The windscreen is much shallower and the doors, which are 276mm longer, have a unique design. The side profile is truly distinctive, with a beltline that rises much more steeply towards the rear of the car. Inside, the Pro-cee'd continues to impress, with air conditioning, speed sensing power steering, trip computer and a fully integrated CD player with AM/FM/RDS radio with full MP3 player and iPod connectivity. Despite its lowered, sportier appearance, Pro-cee'd provides generous legroom front and rear, and luggage capacity is a class-leading 340 litres, with the rear seats upright. The Pro-cee'd is offered with two levels, the LX and the EX Plus. The LX specification is the same as the LX version of the five door hatch and the cee'd SW. The EX comes with all the features found on the equivalent hatchback, with some additional extras, such as 17" alloy wheels, black Bessel headlamps, rear privacy glass, foldable key, electric folding mirrors, aluminium pedals and steel door scuffs. Prices for the Pro-cee'd start at €19,195 for the 1.4 litre LX model and rise to €23,395 for the 1.6 lire diesel Pro-cee'd diesel in EX styling. James Brooks, Managing Director of Kia Motors Ireland commented: "Since its launch, cee'd has become the most popular model in our range. Hardly surprising, given the style and comfort on offer in the cee'd along with the peace of mind a seven year warranty brings. With the Pro-cee'd we hope to appeal to younger style conscious buyers with Pro-cee'ds sporty looks and driving experience." |
