A Hyundai Sports Coupe is to be the top prize in the Colga Football Club draw, which was launched by Packie Bonner recently. Money raised as part of the draw will go towards the development of the Colga FC sports facility, which is the culmination of many years of effort on behalf of the club to find a suitable home for its activities. ![]() At the launch of the Colga FC development and fundraising event were Peter Morrissey and Packie Bonner with the Hyundai Sports Car. The club has very ambitious plans for the facility. When complete, it will comprise of three junior grass pitches, a senior grass pitch and a senior all weather pitch. It will also have an athletics track and a sports hall suitable for a wide variety of sports. The project will be funded by fundraising events and grant aid from various sources. Colga FC sees this development as a community facility that will bring much needed recreational infrastructure to the local community. Colga FC was formed in March 1996, and officially opened in June 1996. At this stage in the development, they have in the region of 570 playing members ranging in age from under six to adult. This gives the club access to approx 300 households in the locality. The club competes in County League and Cup competitions, run by the Galway and District Football Leagues, in Provincial Cup competitions, organised by the Connacht Football Association, and in national competitions run by The Football Association of Ireland. Other prizes in the draw include holiday vouchers, gym membership and premium match tickets.
