GM Europe record first quarter 2008 |

General Motors (GM) Europe's first quarter sales volume for this year was 572,137 units, which is the highest ever Q1 volume by the company. The Chevrolet brand sales rose by 30 per cent to a record market share of 2.2 per cent. Sales at GM Russia sales were up 78 per cent and the company's Cadillac's European sales rose by 13 per cent. Sales of the large Hummer vehicle, while still relatively small showed a 59 per cent increase over last year.
The core Opel/Vauxhall sales account for 73 per cent of GM's European sales and the twin brands sold 418,496 vehicles in the first quarter of 2008. Overall European market share for Opel/Vauxhall was at seven per cent. There was little mention of the Saab results in the most recent company report.
