An American company is offering a 'flat pack' kit car, which allows motorists to build a car capable of up to 125km/hr (80mph) for about €6,500. The XR3 Hybrid Vehicle has been designed by Robert Q Riley Enterprises, a design company in Phoenix, Arizona. The manual is available from its website, www.rqriley.com The XR3 Hybrid carries two passengers and can be powered by a diesel engine, an electric engine or a hybrid combination of the two. With the hybrid battery pack installed, the car is capable of 225 mpg. The hybrid battery option more than doubles the price of the car, while the non-hybrid version is capable of 125 mpg, built using a standard lead acid battery pack. |
