German drivers have joined their counterparts in UK by voting Honda the top car brand on sale in their respective markets. This week, following on from the Which? Car awards in UK where Honda received top accolades, German drivers have also voted Honda as the most reliable brand in satisfying new car owners in the J.D. Power & Associates 2007 German Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Study carried out in conjunction with auto motor und sport/AUTOStrassenverkehr.
The study, now in its sixth year, is based on the evaluations of more than 20,000 vehicle owners in Germany after an average of two years of ownership. Twenty-seven car brands covering 112 models were represented in the survey. Owners provided detailed evaluations of their cars and dealers, which covered 77 attributes grouped in four measurements of satisfaction: quality and reliability (30%); vehicle appeal (25%) which included performance, design, comfort and features; service satisfaction (23%) and ownership costs (22%) including fuel consumption, cost of service and repairs, and insurance.
Honda was ranked tops, receiving a CSI score of 848 index points on a 1,000 point scale. Honda received particularly high ratings on all four key criteria and was awarded two top model listings for the Honda Accord (upper medium sector) and CR-V (SUV sector).
The Which? Car survey was the biggest ever owner satisfaction survey in the UK with almost 100,000 cars rated. The Honda Jazz was voted number one choice for reliability by more than 1,300 drivers, thus cementing its reputation and the number one car for dependable motoring. In addition to the top award for the Jazz in the supermini class, Honda also won overall top score for FR-V (people carrier section) and shared the top award for the Civic (medium cars); Accord (large car) and CR-V (off roader section). Both the Civic and CR-V are the pre-2007 models.
