Galwegians suffered an agonising late defeat when Dolphin slotted a late penalty to secure a 23-22 win in Division One of the AIB League on Sunday afternoon.

It was cruel luck on a 'Wegians side who have now slumped to a second successive defeat despite scoring three tries.

John Cleary and Brian McGovern touched down for 'Wegians who were also awarded a penalty try.

Peter Durcan kicked two conversions and a penalty but it was not enough to secure a third win from four starts, although they did pick up a losing bonus point for the second week in a row.

Connemara and Corinthians recorded wins in Division Three of the AIB League, but Buccaneers went down in their Division Two visit to UCC.

Connemara defeated Waterpark by 23-11 at the Monastery Field for their first win of the season. And Corinthians made it two wins from four with an excellent bonus point 27-17 victory away to bottom-of-the-table City of Derry.

Buccaneers were on the road again this weekend but went down 16-3 to a UCC side who have now won all four games this season.
