Ford is selling its 20 per cent share in Mazda as part of its effort to raise cash. The Ford Motor Company expects to raise around $540 million by selling its large slice of Mazda.
Ford will cut its share holding in Mazda from 33.4 per cent to just over 13 per cent through the sale of shares to Mazda and the sale of shares to a group of Mazda's strategic business partners. Ford will remain Mazda's largest shareholder and will maintain a seat on the Japanese manufacturer's board of directors. Mazda plans to continue its strategic relationship through ongoing joint ventures with Ford, as well as the sharing of platforms and engines.
