The new Fiat Scudo van has been awarded the Semperit Irish Van of the Year Award 2008.

The Fiat Scudo has been voted Semperit Irish Van of the Year 2008 by the Irish Motoring Writers Association. The announcement was made recently at an awards ceremony in Dublin, attended by leading figures from the motor industry.

The Scudo, with 37 points, finished ahead of the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert which both had 28 points; the Iveco Daily on 23 points; and the Toyota Hiace on 19 points. All nine voting members of the Irish Motoring Writers Association took part. Value for money, reliability, versatility and lasting residual value were among the attributes sought by the judging panel.

Presenting the award to Geoff Smyth, Chief Executive of Fiat Ireland, Paddy Murphy of Semperit Ireland commented: "The Scudo has won the valuable endorsement of the Irish Motoring Writers. I am sure that the Semperit Irish Van of the Year accolade will support the Scudo's success in the commercial marketplace." The Scudo succeeds the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, last year's winner.
