Chrysler, which is in bankruptcy in the US, has been approved to sell substantially all of its operations to Chrysler Group LLC, the new company controlled by Fiat.
The Fiat deal gives Chrysler access to Fiat technology, in particular the scope to develop the next generation of environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient high-quality vehicles.
The Fiat Group has assured customers and dealers across North America and Europe that the new Chrysler Group is well prepared to produce and support quality vehicles under the Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler brands as well as parts under the Mopar brand. This deal gives Fiat access to the 4x4 sector through Jeep and Dodge with access to the big car market through the Chrysler brand.
