After an 11-year run with the previous edition, Citroen has developed the new Dispatch Van. Citroen claims that the new version offers new features and will appeal to a broad customer base.

2664 The new Citroen Dispatch van offers lower fuel consumption and longer service intervals than the current models. The vans will be available from Spring 2007.

The new Dispatch is packed with technological innovations and equipment dedicated to passenger and driver comfort and safety. The new vehicle offers many combinations in terms of volume, payload and load length.

The new Dispatch is positioned between the Berlingo and the new Relay van ranges. The van has the following features over the previous model:

  • A bigger payload: the new Citroen Dispatch has a bigger payload, ranging from 1,000 kg to 1,200 kg, versus a range of 815 kg to 900 kg on the previous version.
  • More load volume: the new Dispatch combines two lengths with two wheelbases and two body heights. The load volume has been increased significantly to a range of 5 m3 to 7 m3, versus 4 m3 for the previous Dispatch.
  • The interior load length of the new Dispatch has also been increased by 12 cm to 16 cm depending on the version, and can be extended a further 65 cm with the optional stowage tunnel for long loads in vans with a bulkhead.
  • On the outside, the design of the front end features a gutsy radiator grille and oversized bumper for extra protection against parking knocks. The rear has been designed for easy loading. The layout of the driving position, soundproofing and ergonomic design, ensures that the cabin satisfies the requirements of the most demanding users. The new Facing the driver, the new Dispatch's electronic instrument cluster provides full, easy-to-read information. The driver can access the data he/she needs quickly: mileage, fuel consumption, average speed and headlamp level. Warning lights make sure users of the new Dispatch are alerted well before a problem could occur. These include a seatbelt warning and battery charge indicator.

There is a choice of two diesel engines, the 1.6 HDi 90 (66kW), the 2.0 HDi 120 (88kW). Both engines are matched to manual gearboxes, with six speeds in the case of the 2.0 HDi 120.

All Citroen engines comply with the Euro IV directives that come into force in January 2007 for all new LCVs sold in Europe. Under the Euro IV standard, all the Dispatch engines are fitted with European On Board Diagnosis (EOBD), which monitors vehicle emissions.

These engines' low fuel consumption, and less frequent need for servicing, now required only every 30,000 km or two years (a 50% improvement on the previous version of the Dispatch), help reduce overall running costs.
