The UK police are involved in a campaign to crackdown on illegally-tinted car windows. Police fear fatal accidents have been caused as drivers have been unable to see properly in the dark because of the tinted windows.
The UK law states any vehicle windows must allow at least 70 per cent of light through. Police have been testing windows with light monitoring equipment. Tinting films can be bought legally but have to come with warnings saying they can not be used on windscreens or front side windows. However, these warnings are often ignored.
