The interior styling is modern and user friendly to a point. Fiat users a range of information features to tell the driver how the car is performing, in terms of economy, using a simple dash computer. Setting the time and date proved a bigger challenge for me.

Interior space is what you would expect from a car in this size. The seating is good and easily adjustable with seat height adjustment as standard. The footwell seemed a little small to me, with little room to rest the left leg.

Safety has been a key feature of the new Bravo. The car has been awarded a maximum 5-star rating for adult occupant protection in the gruelling Euro NCAP crash test programme. It achieved five stars for adult occupant safety, three stars for child protection and a further two for pedestrian protection. The new Fiat recorded 33 points. This places it among the leaders of its category in terms of passive, active and preventive safety.

The Bravo is available in four trim levels, Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport. ABS anti-lock braking, remote central locking, driver and passenger front and side airbags, electric front windows, a CD player, Dualdrive electric power steering and Follow Me Home headlamps are fitted as standard, even within entry level models.

This equipment package is further boosted by options, which include dual-zone climate control, cruise control, rain, parking and tyre pressure sensors, a SkyDome glass sunroof occupying almost the entire Bravo roof area, a CD system, with subwoofer that can play MP3 files, and Blue & Me mobile phone and MP3 player connectivity with steering wheel controls.

The new Bravo from Fiat comes on the market at a fairly competitive price of €19,495 before delivery charges. It delivers average performance relative to the competition and ticks all the boxes when it comes to safety features. The pricing is mid-range, but the 120hp model delivers the best option in terms of driving response, making it a true fiat performer.
