The most successful and critically acclaimed play of the 2011 Galway Arts Festival is to be brought to New York. ‘Misterman’ starring Cork actor Cillian Murphy will have a 21 performance run at St Ann’s Warehouse as part of ‘Imagine Ireland’, Culture Ireland’s year of Irish arts in America.
The one-man show, which was written and directed by Enda Walsh, received critical acclaim during its two week run at the Black Box Theatre in July.
It was especially lauded for Murphy’s mesmerising and dark performance as a man on the verge, or in the middle of a breakdown.
It was the first time the two – Walsh and Murphy – had worked together since Walsh directed the 2001 film ‘Disco Pigs’.
