An Cathaoirleach of the County of Galway, Cllr. Peter Roche is hosting this year’s Mayoral Charity Ball on Saturday, 30 April in the Ard Rí House Hotel, Tuam to help raise much needed funds for two very worthy beneficiaries, Console and Tuam Cancer Care.
Console provides professional therapeutic counselling, support and helpline services to people in suicidal crisis and to those bereaved through suicide, with services including a 24/7 suicide helpline, individual and family counselling, support groups, suicide bereavement liaison service and training and public awareness programmes.
Tuam Cancer Care is a voluntary organisation that offers psychological, emotional and practical support to people with a cancer diagnosis and their families. The support provided helps the person with a cancer diagnosis to regain control of their lives and to enhance their personal coping skills, during a difficult period in their lives. Family members are also supported.
Cllr. Roche said, “I am fortunate to have this opportunity to host this year’s County Mayoral Ball which is a huge honour. We have a great night’s entertainment planned and very much look forward to having a packed house on what promises to be a wonderful night.”
Cllr. Roche is very aware of the valuable work undertaken by Console, as an Ambassador for the Charity, and of the importance of the emotional and practical support that Tuam Cancer Care offers to those with a cancer diagnosis and their families. “I am delighted that all the proceeds from the Mayoral Charity Ball will help two very deserving charities, continue the valuable work they both undertake in our local communities.”
A drinks reception kicks off celebrations at 7.30pm followed by a meal provided by the Ard Rí House Hotel, with entertainment throughout the evening.
