A Vietnamese native is to appear at Castlerea District Court this afternoon, after cannabis worth €151,000 was discovered at a house in the Loughrea area.
Galway gardaí raided the house in Raheen Oughter shortly after 9.30am yesterday morning and discovered a cannabis growhouse with over 189 plants in various stages of growth. The plants are believed to have a street value of €151,000 and were subsequently seized by gardaí.
The 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene and questioned at Loughrea Garda Station, where he was later charged with three counts of possession of illegal substances, possession of drugs for sale and supply and cultivation of cannabis.
He will be formally charged at Castlerea District Court at 2pm today.
