Elegant tall ship, the Jeanie Johnston arrived in Galway on Thursday 16 August.

Visiting the Jeanie Johnston gave a sense of what it must have been like for the original passengers, who were fleeing the famine for a new life in America, while the onboard museum helps to transport the visitor back 150 years to join the poverty stricken emigrants in their harsh world below deck.

The 2007 season was the most successful to date.. James Campbell, Operator of the Jeanie Johnston says: "We are delighted with the success of the Jeanie Johnston and with the tremendous support the people of Ireland have shown. The Jeanie is going from strength to strength and we are currently planning a 2009 Transatlantic voyage to historic Boston, as part of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge series."
