Last week the NUIG had their final sail training session of the college year leaving plenty of time to now concentrate on their main exams! During the winter Bow Waves Galway Sailing and Powerboat School ran a successful training programme for college sailors every week in Galway City. Courses ranged from dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, sea survival, VHF marine radio, powerboating and yachtmaster navigation courses. This allowed the NUIG Sailing Club to focus club racing and development. Charlie 'Lally' Carlisle is Bow Waves on site NUIG Liaison officer and also a qualified instructor. Some of the brave participants who were out sailing in January in snow were Norman Warden, Orlaith Mannion, Neil Harte, Gemma Brett, Gemma Gillen, Peter Conneely, Eoghan O Donnell, Garry Lohan, James Tully, Sarah Scully, Kieran Warden, Liam Warden, Diarmuid De Burca, Tony Mc Donnell. |
