Docks-based sailing school Bow Waves is to hold a meeting of interested parties to discuss proposals to ban jetskis and other power craft from the county's waterways.

According to a statement, "Bow Waves, Galway's Sail and Power Boat School is facilitating a meeting of interested parties and individuals to discuss the effects of this regulation and how it effects water users and how we as a group of water users, can move forward together to protect our sports and encourage safety on our coasts. This ban could have serious implications for other watersports down the road and this meeting is an effort to see what direction we can take as a group to ensure positive growth, education and enjoyment of watersports into the future."

The meeting will take place in the Harbour Hotel on Friday, 16 May at 7pm. For further information and to register interest, email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
