€150,000 has been allocated for works on Parkmore Pier at Kinvara by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Galway East Fianna Fáil Deputy, Noel Treacy has confirmed that further funding has been approved for remedial works at Parkmore Pier, Kinvara. The funding has been sanctioned by John Browne, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and will extend to a maximum of €150,000 or 75 per cent of the cost of the works. The funding has been approved to Galway County Council under the 2008 Fisheries Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme. The County Council's contribution will add €50,000 to this project, bringing the total project cost to €200,000. Deputy Treacy said: "I am delighted that, following strenuous representations on this issue for some time now, funding is now being made available for these vital works at Parkmore Pier, which will enhance facilities for the fishing and sailing in the greater Kinvara area and will provide upgraded facilities to improve both commercial and leisure activities and ensure safety of pier users in the years ahead." |
