The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is due to arrive in Croshaven, Co. Cork on Monday, 30 June as part of the final leg of an epic ten-month journey. The race itself was the brain-child of Sir Robin Knox-Johnson, who established the first clipper race in 1996 and is currently chairman of the company.

The ten boats taking part in the race hail from all over the globe, with the American boat, New York, currently leading ahead of the Hull and Humber, from England, and the Scottish based Glasgow: Scotland with Style. The vessels are Open 60s and are similar in design to Open 70s that will take part in the Volvo Ocean Race, which arrives into Galway next May. For more details see www.clipperroundtheworld.com.
